Scope of Project
Fonterra the world's largest exporter of dairy products, were experiencing ongoing failures with their asphalt driveways within one of their factories in New Zealand.
The failures were identified as being a result of chemicals used in washing their tankers which caused a negative chemical reaction.
Fonterra put out a tender to progressively change the pavement from asphalt to concrete whilst maintaining the current asphalt surface with crack sealing.
SuperSealing staff undertook necessary site inductions, and timing of works were planned to coincide with a planned factory shutdown. Works were programmed to be finished within 7 days, for the concrete to have a further 7 days to cure prior to the reopening of the factory.
The failed area was 4100m2 that required to be replaced with 200mm of 40MPA concrete. Additional cracking in adjoining areas also required repairing.
The site had a specific Traffic Management Plan (TMP) which SuperSealing needed to strictly adhere to. The planning for the implementation of the TMP was done in close consultation with Fonterra.
